Applying for a Free Credit Card is easy and it takes 5 minutes. If you sign up for a Free Credit Card, you automatically also get a free bunq Personal account 🚀

Note: Keep in mind that Apple and Google Pay are available for tricount users who reside in 🇦🇹 Austria, 🇧🇪 Belgium, 🇧🇬 Bulgaria, 🇭🇷 Croatia, 🇪🇪 Estonia, 🇫🇮 Finland, 🇫🇷 France, 🇩🇪 Germany, 🇬🇷 Greece, 🇭🇺 Hungary, 🇮🇪 Ireland, 🇮🇹 Italy, 🇳🇱 the Netherlands, 🇵🇱 Poland, 🇵🇹 Portugal, 🇷🇴 Romania, 🇸🇰 Slovakia, 🇸🇮 Slovenia, 🇪🇸 Spain, 🇸🇪 Sweden, or 🇬🇧 the UK. Thus, if you reside in a different country, you won’t be able to use your Free Credit Cards.

Who can apply for a Free Credit Card in tricount?

All citizens of the European Economic Area that are residents in the countries that Apple and Google Pay operate in, can apply for a Free Credit Card. If you're not a European citizen but you live in one of the countries that we work in, read on to learn about the documents you need to submit during your registration. For those who are already tricount users and have completed the signup process, there's no need to repeat it. However, a Free Credit Card won't be automatically available to you. But don't worry, you can still get yours by following a few simple steps. See the instructions below and get yours in 5 minutes.

How do I apply for the Free Credit Card?

To sign up for a Free Credit Card, you should go through a signup and verification flow. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Tap on the Credit Card icon

2. Fill in your personal details

3. Add your phone number. We'll send you a confirmation code

4. Set up a Security Code (your login password)

5. Add your Tax Identification Number

6. Verify your identity

7. Get your free Credit Card via tricount ✨

Note: In case you have multiple Tax Identification Numbers, please ensure to add them per country of residence.

How do I verify my identity?

Similar to bunq’s verification process, the authentication procedure in tricount will be done with Incode. Follow the steps below to verify your identity and get the full tricount experience:

1. Open the tricount app

2. Tap on the "Finish signing up for the full experience" pop-up message

3. Confirm your phone number

4. Select the document and follow the verification flow

Keep in mind the following tips when finishing your verification:

  • Stay in a well-lit surrounding so the video is clear and your face is clearly visible.

  • Follow the steps on the screen carefully.

  • Hold your phone at the same level as your face while doing the verification.

  • Complete the verification on your own. There can’t be anyone holding your phone or be present in the background.

  • When you use your ID card, driver’s license or residence permit, be sure to upload a picture of the front and the back side of the card.

What Identification Documents can I use?

European countries

  • An EU plastic Driver's license (our partner Incode does not accept paper driver's licenses)

  • ID cards. For our Italian users: only the plastic ID card is allowed*.

  • Residence permits: Valid EU residence permit cards are accepted, but the document provided should be still valid and not expired. The endorsement sticker is not accepted. You can see an example here.

  • Passports Please note: For users in Bulgaria 🇧🇬, Denmark 🇩🇰, Greece 🇬🇷 , Ireland 🇮🇪, Romania 🇷🇴, and Slovakia 🇸🇰 ID cards aren't accepted. Please provide your passport or driver's license.

Non-European countries

Only passports from the following countries are accepted: Argentina 🇦🇷, Australia 🇦🇺, Brazil 🇧🇷, Canada 🇨🇦, Chile 🇨🇱, China 🇨🇳, Colombia 🇨🇴, Ecuador 🇪🇨, Hong Kong 🇭🇰, Iceland 🇮🇸, India 🇮🇳, Indonesia 🇮🇩, Israel 🇮🇱, Japan 🇯🇵, Liechtenstein 🇱🇮, Malaysia 🇲🇾, Mexico 🇲🇽, Morocco 🇲🇦, New Zealand 🇳🇿, Norway 🇳🇴, Peru 🇵🇪, Singapore 🇸🇬, South Africa 🇿🇦, South Korea 🇰🇷, Switzerland 🇨🇭, Turkey 🇹🇷, Ukraine 🇺🇦, United Kingdom 🇬🇧 , United States 🇺🇸, Uruguay 🇺🇾, Venezuela 🇻🇪 and Vietnam 🇻🇳 Important note: We only accept residence permits issued in one of these following countries : AT 🇦🇹, BE 🇧🇪, BG 🇧🇬, CY 🇨🇾, CZ 🇨🇿, DE 🇩🇪, DK 🇩🇰, EE 🇪🇪, ES 🇪🇸, FI 🇫🇮, FR 🇫🇷, GR 🇬🇷, HR 🇭🇷, HU 🇭🇺, IE 🇮🇪, IT 🇮🇹, LT 🇱🇹, LU 🇱🇺, LV 🇱🇻, MT 🇲🇹, NL 🇳🇱, PL 🇵🇱, PT 🇵🇹, RO 🇷🇴, SE 🇸🇪, SI 🇸🇮, SK 🇸🇰 If you're from a non-EU country that's not included in the previous list, you must have a European passport or residence permit ready for verification.

What Identification Documents aren’t accepted?

We don't accept the following documents:

  • VISA

  • Temporary ID cards

  • Diplomatic ID cards

What other documents should I provide?

As part of bunq's commitment to preventing fraud and tax evasion, we are legally required to collect Tax Identification Numbers (TIN) from our users. This applies to all tricount users, regardless of their country of residence. In some cases, we may also need additional documents for further verification. This is a standard procedure required by law to ensure the safety and security of your account and funds. You might be asked for the following documents:

  • Proof of Residence

  • Income information

What’s the status of my card?

  • You've applied for a Credit Card, we'll review your application: Your account has been successfully created, but we encountered a hiccup during the approval process. Don't worry, we'll carry out a manual review of your application. Please be aware that we might need to ask you for some additional information or documents, such as Proof of Residence), to complete this process.

  • Your Credit Card is almost here, we need some additional information: We need some additional information and documents, which can be provided directly from the tricount app.

  • Your Credit Card is almost here, we need another identity verification: We couldn’t verify your identity due to a hiccup in your verification. You’ll be asked to go through the verification process once again.

  • We couldn't accept your application this time: If your application was denied, we might consider it again in the future.

My application was denied. What now?

There may be instances where your application isn’t approved. This simply means that we’re unable to accept your application at this time. However, please don't be disheartened as there's a possibility we may reconsider your application in the future.

How can I log into my bunq account?

You can log into your newly created bunq account using the telephone number you've registered with and the security code you’ve set upon signup. Each time you log in on a new device, you will be required to confirm your identity through the identity verification process.

If you’ve forgotten your Security Code, you can change it following the steps below:

1. Update to the latest version of the bunq app.

2. Tap on Already a member? Login!

3. Tap on Forgot security code?

4. Enter the phone number that you’ve registered with in tricount

5. Authenticate yourself through the Incode flow with a selfie

6. Choose your new Security Code
